These are uncertain times with the continued spread of COVID-19 across the globe, but this pandemic couldn’t stand in the way of Lucio Battista, a longtime fan of Silent Hill, who spent his entire life-savings on a slot machine inspired by the franchise. This generous charity thereby resulted in Konami announcing it will be remaking the first three games in the series.

“I’m feeling pretty ecstatic right now,” said Battista, who was looking over his bank account and staring at his now-non-existent wealth. “Even though I’m completely broke and without a job, I know that I’ve made a lot of fans happy right now by financing not one, but three new Silent Hill games. Can somebody pat me on the back for this amazing deed?”

Konami Gaming, Inc., a subsidiary of Konami that deals in designing and manufacturing casino games and technology, will be at this weekend's Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas with a brand new Silent Hill 'game,' but as you've probably figured out by now, it's not really a game, it's a video slot machine. The Silent Hill slot machine will be making its grand debut during the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas from October 15 through the 17th. It's called Silent Hill Escape and offers a 49-inch J curve display in 4K ultra HD.

We then proceeded to tap him a few times on his back, only for him to snap into in a weeping panic shortly thereafter. “Oh my god!” the impoverished man exclaimed. “What have I done? I should have stopped myself from spending everything I had. I’m bound to pay dearly for this when I break the news to my wife and kids back home.”

It’s been a long eight years since Silent Hill: Downpour, the last notable entry in the series, but the news of remakes on the way is sure to make fans scream in joy. Nobody asked or even wanted a Silent Hill slot machine, but thank goodness for whoever approved that ridiculous project because we wouldn’t be where we are today without it.

Sure, we’ll probably find a lifeless Battista hanging from his ceiling by the end of the week, but his incredibly generous gift to the series will live on for years to come. Should the man go through with that unfortunate fate, we hope Konami would be respectful enough to give him praise in the ending credits for each title. Either way, they should probably thank him regardless!

At press time, bewildered fans and reporters at a press conference were left scratching their heads in frustration and anger after Konami announced the upcoming remakes would be exclusively developed as slot machines instead of for home video game consoles as everyone had previously assumed.

Facepalm: The cancelation of Silent Hills in 2015 came as a huge disappointment to fans of the long-running horror series. And while Konami has just announced a new Silent Hill game, it comes in the form of a three-sided slot machine.

Back when Hideo Kojima unceremoniously departed Konami, it was suggested the decision was partly due to the company’s shift in focus to mobile and gambling machines—the first post-Kojima Metal Gear Solid project was a pachinko game based on MGS 3: Snake Eater. Pachinko is like a mix between pinball and gambling slot machines, and are very popular in Japan.

Konami Gaming, a subsidiary of Konami, is announcing a new series of video slot cabinets at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas starting October 15, one of which is Silent Hill Escape. Yahoo Finance reports that it comes with a 49-inch 'J' curve display in 4K Ultra HD, which is still unlikely to appease fans of the series.

'This cabinet is a striking combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort, backed by a rich library of original titles,' said Tom Jingoli, executive vice president & chief commercial officer at Konami Gaming. 'Everything, including its shape, screens, betting surface, and available merchandising, has been engineered to maximize both player experience and operational results. This latest cabinet is a first glimpse at great things to come from Konami.'

It's been over seven years since the last full Silent Hill game—Downpour—arrived, though there was also the now-removed PT demo.

Konami did renew the Silent Hill trademark earlier this year, but it was likely to secure the rights for devices such as this slot machine. Still, there's always the chance we might see another entry in the franchise at some point in the future.
